Amazon Prime Music : The Best Music Streaming Platform in India?

Music is very important to Indians as I'm quite sure it is to everyone else on this planet. And with the ever-increasing Jio subscribers there is a significant shift to streaming services from downloading music locally. This is great news for streaming services as India would prove to be a great potential market for them.

Now that Spotify and YouTube Music is available in India, the battle for the best music streaming platform–in India–has officially begun. With Apple Music, Spotify, Prime Music, Gaana and YouTube Music as top contenders for your money.

I've been an Amazon Prime subscriber for almost two years now and when they brought Prime Music to India last year with no additional cost for Prime subscribers, it was a no-brainer. With an INR 999 annual Amazon Prime subscription you get Free 1 day and 2 day delivery on Amazon shopping, 1 year of Prime Video subscription and 1 year of Prime Music! I mean there's simply no competing that.

Just to put things in perspective: Apple Music, Spotify Premium, Ganna Plus, and YouTube Music Premium will cost you more than INR 999 a year alone (except Ganna Plus, it'll cost you INR 499 per year). Not to mention the significantly large music library of Prime Music. Amazon Prime Music has a massive music catalog (actually the largest) and you’re free to choose from and stream over 50 million songs, be it western, Bollywood, indie or regional artists in languages like Tamil, Telugu, Punjabi and more. It almost has 20 million more songs than Ganna Plus, which boasts 30 million songs in their library and over 10 million more songs than Spotify, which has around 40 million songs.

Therefore, the choice is pretty simple: if you don't want to spend a lot of money on a lot of different streaming services, you should get an Amazon Prime Subscription and stop caring about the Spotify, Apple Music of the world. But if you're already sold on Spotify's amazing features and popularity and Spotify exclusive songs and covers, you can't go wrong with Spotify either. Also, if Bollywood is the only genre you listen to, Ganna Plus with an INR 499 annual subscription is the way to go.

But the crown only goes to one and that one for me is– you guessed it– Amazon Prime Music.
