As mentioned in the heading of this blog, I had my SAT on the 6th of October 2018. I was very nervous about it the entire week before the exam and was constantly thinking about " how something will go bad & I'll screw everything up." And constantly telling myself "hey, don't worry nothing bad is gonna happen."
And something bad did happen: a sleep-deprived mind cost me an unaffordable 20 points.
6th October 2018 :
The test was on a Saturday morning. The sun was out early. I had already reached the test venue in Ranchi, a good, 20 minutes prior to the recommended time (It's always better to reach early) and was waiting for the gates to open- my test venue was DPS Ranchi- and it opened at about 7:55 AM. There were a few other test-takers as well. We went in through the main doors to encounter three teachers waiting for inspection. They verified our Admission Tickets and photo IDs ( Passport/ Aadhar Card). Once all the verification was done, we went straight to the exam room. It was a cold and isolated room with a weird echo, which only gave me chills. After taking out all the required stationery and putting aside the additional stuffs in the restroom and taking the assigned seat and waiting for another 20 minutes, it felt as though I was about to have a nervous breakdown but, right on time, at 8:25 AM we were handed the question papers and I could still remember the teacher's face while handing me the papers: she smirked. It felt condescending. But I was too worried about the test to care about the facial gesture of a stranger.
I started the paper. After a while, I lost all track of time. I was immersed in the passages. Sometime later, "10 minutes remaining", the teacher with the smirk announced. I still had a passage to finish. I mustered all my concentration and whispered: " all is well!". And so it was 10 minutes later. With a similar 4 hours of the test ahead of me I was quite exhausted at the end of it.
In short, my SAT went "okay" ( a polite way of saying not great).
I hope reading this gave you an insight into what it was like for me on the test day.
Au revoir, à beintôt!
